Terralingua is pleased to announce that a Discussion Forum, designed for all of you who have contributed information on projects for the Global Source Book on Biocultural Diversity (GSB), is now up and running. Be sure to visit the GSBBCD Forum.
A Report on the Global Source Book on Biocultural
Diversity (GSB) is now available for viewing. The GSB report
is available in PDF
format. The source book, which is an ongoing and evolving project currently
represents 40 projects in 20 different countries. The source book provides
information on the projects both in a tabular and in a descriptive form.
For example, projects are highlighted in terms of how biocultural diversity
is being conserved, if the project is community-based, and the project's
contribution to the development of biocultural diversity policy.
The GSB is as an important tool for: 1) networking among people involved in research and projects around the globe that deal with biocultural diversity conservation; 2) training development practitioners; and 3) increasing the visibility and raising the profile of biocultural diversity research and projects. The GSB will give the biocultural diversity field its very first global source of information on where, why and how local/regional areas of biocultural diversity are being successfully maintained, restored and protected.
WE NEED YOUR INPUT! Terralingua is still actively seeking information on projects for the Source Book.
We invite all interested people to contribute to the GSB ñ the more projects highlighted, the more extensive the network becomes and more can be learned from each others' challenges and successes. Please visit the Source Book Page
for the full project description and survey form. For more information, please contact Dr. Ellen Woodley or Dr. Luisa Maffi.
